2012 London Olympic Games Finalist, African Record Holder 110m Hurdles
I want to thank you for your help during the 2011 season and onwards. It wasn’t until I spend some time with you that I realized how important the mental part of my athletics career is. The fact that you helped me with short- and long-term goal setting helped me see my career in perspective. Relating with you was easy, being a former professional athlete yourself; as I know you have dealt with the issues we discussed first hand.I appreciate all your help and look forward to working with you toward my preparation for the 2012 Olympic games.
Commonwealth Games Qualifier, South African Medallist and South African Student Record Holder
I participate in athletics on a national and international level and have won a medal at every South African Athletics Championships since 2003. The last few events I have been struggling getting my mind set right as I have been training well, but have not been racing efficiently. I have known Janko Kotze since 2008 and asked him for advice before competing at the South African Student Championships 2012 held at the University of Johannesburg.Janko used his own experience to illustrate the sensibleness of staying calm before a race and this was extremely helpful to me. His advice was part of the reason why I managed to stay calm and composed before my event and assisted me in winning a gold medal and breaking my own South African Students record.
Janko is a Sport Psychologist who helps athletes and teams achieve their goals and realise their potential. He is one of only a handful of athletes who have represented South Africa at youth, junior and senior national level.
